The ambitious Opal Prospecting project, conducted for the Department of Industry, focused on opal mining areas at Lightning Ridge and White Cliffs. Over four years, our team defined and plotted 305 linear kilometres of boundaries. This effort included locating and surveying thousands of active mining claims.

STRATEGIC IMPACT
A critical component of this project was the detailed boundary surveys for Opal Area 4, completed in 2023. This area, measuring 40 km by 30 km, required a high degree of precision over a three-month period. The team also created GIS data for Opal Area 4, which involved mapping approximately 600,000 separate opal titles. This data is crucial for the effective management and regulation of opal mining activities in these regions.
Supporting critical industry operations requires precise surveying and data management. Our efforts in sustaining Australia’s valuable opal mining industry will help ensure its continued success and environmental stewardship.
